Acne usually affects adolescents since the hormonal imbalance of puberty is prevalent. However, some acne conditions extend through puberty into adulthood. This adult acne is sometimes the result of treating acne symptoms instead of addressing the cause. The use of topical creams may produce fast results but does not actually cure the condition. There are some long term acne treatments that effectively cures acne and prevents them from recurring.
